About ShadowGrid

ShadowGrid turns a photo of your tools on a sheet of paper into a Gridfinity tray you can 3D-print. It is free to use and runs in your web browser. Tracing, the AI model and the 3D model all run on your own device.

ShadowGrid is made by Frederik Jensen, Denmark, as an independent hobby project.

Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data ShadowGrid processes, why, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible

The data controller is Frederik Jensen, Denmark. See Contact for how to reach us.

Browser storage

ShadowGrid stores things in your browser (local storage and IndexedDB): your trays and photos (when you are not signed in), your settings such as language, theme, paper size and printer, your login session, and your choice about statistics. These are needed for the functions you use. The only optional item is the random statistics ID, which is only stored if you click OK. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy.

Who else handles the data

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) hosts the website (Cloudflare Pages).
  • Supabase, Inc. (USA) provides the database, login and the login emails.

They act as data processors for ShadowGrid. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, the transfer is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Fonts and program libraries are served from ShadowGrid’s own website, so no data is sent to font or code providers.

The “Buy me a coffee” link opens buymeacoffee.com. If you use it, their own privacy policy applies.

We do not sell data, show ads or use your data for automated decisions.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive your data in a portable format (My trays → Back up all). Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Signed-in users can delete their account and all its data in Settings. For anything else, contact us.

You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), datatilsynet.dk.

Terms of use

  • ShadowGrid is free and provided “as is”, without any warranty. We do our best to make it accurate, but outlines, measurements and files can be wrong.
  • Always check the result before printing a large tray, for example with the fit test. You are responsible for what you print and how you use it.
  • To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage from using ShadowGrid, including failed prints, lost material or lost data. Keep a backup of trays that matter to you.
  • Only share content you have the right to share, and nothing illegal. We may remove share links that break these terms.
  • The trays and files you make with ShadowGrid are yours to use as you like.
  • We may change, pause or stop ShadowGrid at any time. If we change these terms, the date at the top is updated.
  • Danish law applies.
